Our mission trip to Burundi, in partnership with the Barana Children’s Charity, was a powerful experience of compassion, hope, and impact. Through the charity’s education initiatives, we are supporting 100 students in primary and secondary school, 15 students in college, and 5 students in technical skills training—equipping the next generation with the tools to rise above poverty and build a brighter future. Each Christmas, 78 widows are provided with food and clothing, offering dignity and joy during the holiday season. In the area of sustainability, 5 widows have been empowered through agribusiness ventures, creating lasting income and independence. Most importantly, the spiritual impact continues to grow with the establishment of 6 new churches, bringing the light of the Gospel to communities in need. This mission is not only changing lives—it’s transforming communities.
Our team conducts annual mission trips to help orphans and widows with food, clothes, money, educational resources & more!
Burundi is a small, landlocked country located in East Africa, bordered by Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Though one of the smallest nations on the African continent, Burundi is rich in culture and tradition. Its landscape features rolling hills, mountainous regions, and the shores of Lake Tanganyika, one of the world’s deepest and oldest freshwater lakes. The majority of Burundi’s population lives in rural areas and relies heavily on subsistence agriculture. Bujumbura, once the capital and still the country’s largest city, is a central hub for economic and social activities, though Gitega was officially designated the political capital in 2019.
Burundi has faced significant political and social challenges since gaining independence from Belgium in 1962. The country has experienced multiple periods of ethnic tension and civil conflict, primarily between the Hutu and Tutsi groups. Despite these difficulties, Burundi has made strides in building peace and fostering national unity, with ongoing efforts by local leaders and international organizations to promote development, education, and stability. Traditional music, drumming, and dance play a central role in Burundian culture, reflecting the resilience and vibrancy of its people. While the nation continues to face economic hardships, it also holds promise through its young population and rich cultural heritage.
